GREAT START

The Varsity Volleyball Team is currently 4-1, with the one loss against St. Elizabeth Seton. The best part of watching this team play is that they attempt to play "Power Volleyball." With every serve-receive, they attempt to pass, set and kill the ball. These girls are doing a phenomenal job and we're so incredibly proud of them!

The JV Girls are also doing a wonderful job! Ms. Hoppe's energy and enthusiasm is contagious. These girls have such a positive spirit........they are going to go places!! They are improving with every match, too! What is refreshing to see is that they are also playing "Power Volleyball." Many of the teams that they play against, simply hit the ball over on the first hit. This will help win games right now, but in the long run, our girls will be much more successful. We are looking forward to seeing these girls continue to grow and develop. GREAT JOB, GIRLS!!

The Varsity Team participated in a Clinic this past week, hosted by the Coe-Brown Northwood Academy Volleyball Program. Coach Kristen Miller did a fabulous job of working on drills and skills with our girls. Many of our players will be going to CBNA, so it was nice for us to participate in an event like this.

This week:
The Varsity has a home game on Tuesday, the 29th against Farmington and Milton. They also have a game in Rye on Wednesday. On Friday, they will host Oyster River.

The JV's home game against COOP is cancelled, but return to action on Wednesday at Freemont/Ellis. They also host Farmington and Milton on Thursday.

4th GRADERS ARE PLAYING, TOO!

Heather Fogg, 2nd grade teacher at Barrington Elementary School, is running a volleyball program for the 4th graders. She said she's seen great improvement already! Girls that were screeching when the ball came near them are actually going after the ball now! To help build some competitive spirit, we've set up a game for our young beginner athletes. Farmington will come to Barrington to play us on Oct. 3rd at 2:30.

HOW WE'RE DOING!!!

Our teams are doing FANTASTIC!! Ms. Hoppe is doing a remarkable job molding those young girls into talented, hard working volleyball players. We've seen tremendous improvement from the JV girls!
The varsity girls were very successful at Dover's Pre-Season Jamboree. They also won their first two matches against Somersworth and Portsmouth! Everyone is working hard and having a great TEAM attitude!
Tonight both the JV and Varsity play AT Cooperative Middle School in Stratham. Good luck girls!

BARRINGTON VOLLEYBALL 2009-2010 Begins!!

Do you love to play volleyball? If so, then here is an opportunity you might like to know about! The Barrington Recreation Department has a volleyball program for girls in the immediate area. This program is open for girls in grades 5-8. Both the JV and Varsity Recreation teams participate in the Seacoast Middle School Volleyball League. If you do make one of the teams after tryouts, there will be a $35 registration fee. This money goes towards the cost of equipment, league fees, uniforms, etc… Please know that this money isn’t to pay for “playing time.” On the JV team, we do our best to make sure everyone gets approximately the same amount of playing time. On the varsity team, everyone WILL play, however, we can’t guarantee “equal” playing time. Of course, there could be exceptions because of attendance, discipline, playoffs, etc… Practices and home games will be at Barrington Middle School. Because this is a Recreation team, it will be the parents’ responsibility to make sure players have transportation to and from practices and games. Even though this is a "Recreation" team, practices and games are not "optional". Girls are expected to be at all practices and games unless a person is out of school due to illness, because of an unexpected emergency or if it is approved by the coach in advance. Tryouts for these teams are on September 2nd and 3rd from 5pm-7pm at Barrington Middle School. Players will be expected to go to both tryout dates. All games and practices will be at the Middle School.
